Great Apps to Consider for Ipods

Last week I attended the VSTE Conference and went to several seminars on Ipod Use in the Classroom. Here’s a few I’d like to share in each subject.
History – History Maps of the World, iPresidents, U.S. Historical Documents, U.S. State Capitals

Science – Constellations, Discovery (from Discovery Channel), Chemical Touch for elements

Math – Mathmagics Lite, Basic Math, Math Ref, Number Line

Brain Teasers and Games – Brain Exercise Lite, Flight Control, Enigmo

I’ll be placing these wonderful apps on our ipod touches soon for you to enjoy with your students.

This site is an amazing site that is helpful in a variety of ways. It gives information on copyright and plagarism for upper elementary grades, lesson plans and activities, and helpful videos and tutorials on using Web 2.0 tools to help integrate technology more into the classroom. Plenty of ideas and advice from this site.

Notebook Senteo Response System

Many of may not know yet, but we have a system of remote controls that go along with the Smartboard Notebook software called Senteo Response.  It works much like Quizdom except that it offers many options through the Notebook program and you can create formative assessments on the spot.  You can set up your questions and answers for the students to answer with their remotes.  I plan on doing some training on this program later in the year, but here’s a great site that can get you started if want to.

Ipod Touch in the Classroom

Another great way to get students involved in the learning process is the use of Ipod Touches by Apple.  Not only can you download education songs and videos, but you can also load many k-12 applications that have the students fully engaged in learning.  Applications start out with very basic learning skills such as: site words, learning letters, basic addition/subtraction, and shapes/colors.  Of course, there’s many upper level skilled apps that cover all subjects and core areas.  You can check out these site below for more info.
